PLA 3D filament - printing filament for 3D printers containing polylactic acid. More commonly known as PLA, this filament is one of the most preferred materials for desktop 3D printing. It represents the default choice for most 3D printers with extrusion technology, due to its ability to print at low temperatures and no need for a heated print bed. PLA is ideal for 3D printing beginners as it is easy to print, affordable and produces parts suitable for a wide range of applications. In addition, it is one of the most environmentally friendly materials on the market, coming from renewable sources such as corn and sugarcane, and is biodegradable.

Advantages of PLA Filament:

PLA requires dry storage as it can absorb moisture and can become brittle if stored in a humid environment for long periods of time. At the same time, it can react to excessive temperature, which could cause warping.

Remark:

The material can also be printed on a pad that is not heated, but it is recommended to set the heating to 55-60°C, especially for beginners. It is important to degrease the backing, for example by rinsing with hot spring water, and a stick adhesive such as 3Dlac can also be used. Storage in a dry environment is key as PLA filament readily absorbs moisture. In case of wetting, it is recommended to dry the material at 45-50°C for at least 6 hours.
